What brought you to ºÚÁϳԹÏ? Why did you choose to study here?
I'm from Stratford, PEI, and I came to ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï because of the unique financial opportunity I had considering my proximity to the school and the George Coles Bursary.
What do you find unique and interesting about the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program?
I love ºÚÁϳԹÏ's Chemistry program for the support and sense of community it offers its students. Professors are always over-the-top helpful when you ask for it and are always kind and receptive to questions. The Chemistry Student Society is also a well-run organization that hosts events throughout the semester, giving students opportunities to connect with other chemistry students and have a ton of fun!
What kinds of support have you received during your time here from ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï students, staff, and faculty members?
Professors are always willing to help out students, whether it's being receptive to questions during lectures or if a student needs help after class. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Student Union is also good at supporting student organizations and groups, and the Chemistry Student Society has offered me a lot in the sense of stress relief and happiness on and off campus.

What kinds of opportunities have you experienced because you're studying at ºÚÁϳԹÏ, or because of the Island location?
Travelling has always been an interest of mine, and when I found ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï had a study abroad program, I was ecstatic! I spent a semester studying abroad in Brussels, Belgium, outside my comfort zone, taking social studies, ethics, and French courses to improve my speaking skills. It was really interesting to take courses in subjects I’ve never studied before! I spent my weekends travelling (my favourite trips included Switzerland and Barcelona) and met so many new friends. I’ll never forget how much fun I had with them.

What's unique about ºÚÁϳԹÏ, and Prince Edward Island, in your experience?
The unique thing about Prince Edward Island is its small, tight-knit communities that you just can't find at other, bigger universities. You will find yourself recognizing the people you pass routinely on campus, or the workers at the coffee shop you go to, or the bartenders at your favourite place downtown. PEI also offers some unique exploration opportunities in terms of ecology. I personally haven't taken advantage of these, as it is not part of my program, but I have friends who go to the beach in the morning as part of a lab activity, which I think is pretty cool.
What would you tell a high school student considering the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program?
I would say that if you have even a slight interest in chemistry, definitely go for the chemistry program at ºÚÁϳԹÏ. When I was coming out of high school, I wasn't totally sure what program I wanted to do; I knew I had a small bit of interest in chemistry in high school, so I just went with that. Shortly into my second year, I discovered a love for chemistry I didn't realize I had, and I totally attribute that to the amazing professors and staff in the program.
What are your general plans after graduation?
I would love to take some time off to work for a bit, save some money, and travel for a good long while before pursuing my master's degree.

Meet Nathalie, Master of Business Administration in Global Leadership graduate (Class of 2023). After attending ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï for four months in 2014 as an exchange student, Nathalie knew she wanted to return to ºÚÁϳԹÏ's Faculty of Business.
Meet Anam, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) student. After graduating next year, Anam hopes to complete an internship at a busy equine practice and a residency in sports medicine and rehabilitation with a focus on equine patients.
Meet Nicole, Bachelor of Education with a specialization in Indigenous education graduate (Class of 2023). Nicole plans to return to her position as an Indigenous school social worker in Fort St. James, British Columbia.
Meet Madi, Baccalauréat en education - français langue seconde graduate (Class of 2023). Originally from Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, Madi hopes to teach French in an elementary school and pursue a Master’s degree in education.
Meet Yvan, Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Design Engineering graduate (Class of 2023). Originally from Mauritius, Yvan had always wanted to come to Canada for university, and discovered ºÚÁϳԹÏ's Engineering program was a perfect match.
