The McDougall Faculty of Business (MFoB) at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï is committed to preparing students for successful careers through meaningful industry connections and applied learning experiences. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Student Success, the External Engagement Assistant will support both undergraduate and graduate programming within the MFoB and play a central role in building and sustaining relationships between students, faculty, and the business community. This position is well-suited to an early-career professional with a business background and a passion for student development and experiential learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and coordinate a peer mentorship program that connects upper-year business students with incoming students to support academic and professional transition
  • Develop an employer toolkit to guide business partners in engaging effectively with students and program administrators through projects and job recruitment
  • Facilitate connections between employers and faculty to support project-based and experiential learning opportunities in the classroom
  • Match students with employment opportunities and industry contacts suited to their academic background and career goals
  • Coordinate employer pathways to hiring students
  • Identify and maintain relationships between industry partners and MFoB faculty to promote collaboration and applied learning
  • Develop and maintain alumni databases for both undergraduate and MBA programs to support ongoing engagement
  • Foster and sustain relationships with alumni to support student mentorship, networking opportunities, and employer engagement
  • Support and assist in coordinating events including Career Day, business industry days, and field trips by managing booking logistics, site coordination, and vendor or partner communication
  • Support the delivery of New Student Orientation (NSO) activities and contribute to broader student success programming
  • Track and report on program performance metrics including social media engagement, student participation in experiential learning projects, satisfaction outcomes, and retention data
  • Identify and share content opportunities (e.g., student placements, employer partnerships, events) with the MFoB social media team to support coordinated promotion across channels
  • Research and identify relevant government programs and funding opportunities to support employers in hiring MFoB students

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum 2-year college diploma, preferably in business, education, or a related field
  • Some experience or demonstrated interest in employer relations, industry outreach, student services, events coordination, or community engagement
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and external partners
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate logistics, and follow through on tasks with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and an understanding of basic performance tracking and reporting
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all aspects of work
  • Experience with post-secondary environments, mentorship programs, or experiential learning would be considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
