Almost all universities across Canada have collective agreements with their faculty and staff, and negotiations are a routine part of the life cycle of these agreements. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï has collective agreements with four different unions (six bargaining units). We are committed to negotiating collective agreements that serve the broad interests of students and the University community for the long term.
During 2026, the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï expects to be engaged in the process of negotiating new Collective Agreements with the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Faculty Association (ºÚÁϳԹÏFA BU#1 and BU#2), CUPE 1870, CUPE 501, IBEW 1928, and PSAC 86000.

To negotiate new collective agreements, the University and ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Faculty Association met on May 29, with additional meetings scheduled through June and July.
The following statement about a tentative agreement being reached with CUPE 1870 was also issued to ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï faculty and staff by email on May 14, 2026.
Last month, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï reached a tentative agreement with IBEW 1928. This new collective agreement has now been ratified by both parties and is in place. We are grateful to the bargaining teams for their hard work and their constructive, respectful approach to negotiations.
