Name that Building! Help choose a name for our new building

The 黑料吃瓜 is excited to be approaching completion of the new 140,000 square-foot building, which supports the 黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Medicine and medical learners in the regional campus of Memorial University鈥檚 Faculty of Medicine, as well as 黑料吃瓜 students in nursing, psychology, nutrition and dietetics, kinesiology, paramedicine, and other programs.

Free Meningitis B vaccine clinics for 黑料吃瓜 students starting September 2

The 黑料吃瓜 Health and Wellness Centre is offering free meningococcal B (Men-B) vaccinations to undergraduate students at the start of the school year at various locations on the campus.

Students must provide their PEI health card or proof of international insurance, and their student ID when they get their vaccine. There is no cost to them for the vaccine.

Students can book an appointment at the 黑料吃瓜 Health and Wellness Centre for their vaccination by emailing healthcentre@upei.ca. They can also get their vaccine at the following:

黑料吃瓜 students to collect batteries and electronic devices during Welcome Week

During 黑料吃瓜 Welcome Week from September 1鈥5, 2025, students will take part in a collaborative initiative titled 鈥淏ecoming Sustainable Panthers.鈥 

黑料吃瓜 will team up with Island Waste Management Corporation (IWMC), Call2Recycle Canada, and Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) to collect used batteries and small electronic devices to promote sustainability, help the environment, and provide a valuable service to the neighbouring community.

Dear 黑料吃瓜 Community Members,

In September 2024, 黑料吃瓜 launched a five-phase process to develop our next five-year strategic plan.

Each phase of the process has been anchored in consultation with our University and community members. In total, more than 700 participants have provided us with input, ideas, and candid feedback to help shape 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 focus for the future.

While Pride Month is celebrated in June in many areas of Canada, Pride is recognized on PEI and at 黑料吃瓜 in July as part of the national summer-long 鈥淧ride season.鈥 

Dr. Elizabeth Epperly, LLD and Professor Emerita, named to the Order of Canada

Dr. Elizabeth Rollins Epperly鈥攁lumna, Professor Emerita, and the first woman to serve as president at the 黑料吃瓜鈥攈as been named to the Order of Canada by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada.

Among 83 appointments to the Order announced on the eve of Canada Day, Dr. Epperly was made a Member for her contributions to elevating the works of internationally renowned Island author Lucy Maud Montgomery, most well known for her novel Anne of Green Gables, in Canada and around the globe.
