Every week, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for September 30–October 5 are Emma MacLean (women’s rugby) and Ben McFarlane (men’s hockey).

MacLean is a fifth-year business student from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. She was unstoppable in the October 4 matchup against the Saint Mary’s University Huskies, scoring three tries in a dominant 72-0 win. 

Researchers at the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï have been awarded over $1.7 million in federal funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

The following message was also emailed on October 7 to ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï students, faculty, and staff on behalf of the Office of the Vice-President Academic and Research.

On behalf of the Search Committee, I am pleased to share the news that Dr. Donna Hardy Cox has been appointed as the Associate Vice-President, Students, for a five-year term, effective November 1, 2025.

We are thrilled by the incredible response to the launch of Recognizing Remarkable Colleagues! Our first full month of the program saw another 31 incredible submissions —each one highlighting the generosity, dedication, and positivity that make our University such a special place. 

Because of this tremendous response, we will be sharing the submissions across the next three issues of Campus Connector. Read the first set of submissions (organized in alphabetical order) below.

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Rugby and ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Hockey Panthers are looking forward to a weekend of competition on the road. 

Friday, October 10
Away:
7:00 pm: The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Rugby Panthers play the Acadia University Axewomen in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, for their regular season finale.
7:00 pm: The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Hockey Panthers play the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
7:00 pm: The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Men’s Hockey Panthers play the Saint Mary’s University Huskies in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Hockey Panthers are hungry for playoff success this year, and they have the determination and focus to get there.

Last year, they missed the playoffs by a single point, but that loss lit a fire under the team.

For head coach Sean Fisher, it reinforced both the team’s potential and the importance of consistent execution.
