Emma MacLean and Ben McFarlane named ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week

Every week, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Athletics and Recreation recognizes student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panther Source for Sports Athletes of the Week for September 30–October 5 are Emma MacLean (women’s rugby) and Ben McFarlane (men’s hockey).

MacLean is a fifth-year business student from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. She was unstoppable in the October 4 matchup against the Saint Mary’s University Huskies, scoring three tries in a dominant 72-0 win.

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Rugby and ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Hockey Panthers are looking forward to a weekend of competition on the road.

7:00 pm: The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Rugby Panthers play the Acadia University Axewomen in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, for their regular season finale.
7:00 pm: The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Hockey Panthers play the St. Francis Xavier University X-Women in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
7:00 pm: The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Men’s Hockey Panthers play the Saint Mary’s University Huskies in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Strength in unity: ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panthers built to turn lessons into playoff run

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women’s Hockey Panthers are hungry for playoff success this year, and they have the determination and focus to get there.

Last year, they missed the playoffs by a single point, but that loss lit a fire under the team.

For head coach Sean Fisher, it reinforced both the team’s potential and the importance of consistent execution.

Join ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï President Wendy Rodgers for her casual "coffee chat" this Thursday, October 9 in The Fox and Crow at the W.A. Murphy Student Centre while CBC's Island Morning and Radio-Canada's Le réveil are broadcast live! The two radio shows will air simultaneously, beginning at 6:00 am, with each featuring different guests from ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï on a variety of topics, in addition to regular show elements.
