Atlantic Veterinary College expands access to Canadian veterinary students

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï (ºÚÁϳԹÏ) is opening the door to more Canadian veterinary students by reclassifying its 19 international seats as unsubsidized, beginning with the 2025–2026 admissions cycle.

AVC has 70 seats in total for veterinary students, 51 of which are subsidized by the four Atlantic provinces—Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The other 19 were previously designated as international seats but are now termed “unsubsidized.â€

PEI Sports Hall of Fame honours sport leaders with deep ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï connections

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Department of Athletics and Recreation is Panther proud of Barb Carmichael (field hockey), and the late Barb Mullaly (university sport, recreation, and education), who were inducted as builders into the PEI Sports Hall of Fame at Credit Union Place in Summerside on May 24.

Carmichael and Mullaly both played integral roles in the development of sport at ºÚÁϳԹÏ.

Institute of Island Studies 40-Year Celebration

Founded in 1985, the Institute of Island Studies (IIS) is celebrating 40 years as a research and public policy institute based at the ºÚÁϳԹÏ. IIS focuses on the culture, environment, and economy of small islands around the world, with an emphasis on Prince Edward Island. Celebrate this milestone birthday on June 14 at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï from 4–8 pm. 

The event is free and open to all.

Hello Summer! Barbecue for Students, Staff, and Faculty

Dr. Wendy Rodgers, President and Vice-Chancellor, invites you to the second annual Hello Summer! Barbecue for Students, Staff, and Faculty on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 11:30 am–1:00 pm in the quad in front of SDU Main Building.* 

All are welcome to kick-off summer, mix, and mingle! 

Wear your GREEN and WHITE to show your Panther Pride! There will be swag giveaways and a special guest appearance by Pride the Panther!
