ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Music Society Variety Show

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Music Society is proud to present its sixth annual Variety Show on Friday, May 6 at 7:30 pm. This year, the show will take place at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall (Holland College, Prince of Wales Campus). Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are available in advance either from the Florence Simmons box office or website. Admission is $18. All proceeds from the show will go towards ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Music scholarships.  In the opening act, singers will perform backed by a house band comprised of current ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï music students and alumni, the second act will feature a chamber orchestra, and the evening will close with a performance from the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Jazz Ensemble. A cash bar will be available and there will also be a silent auction. Vocalists will tackle tunes by Elvis, Matt Andersen, Elton John, Stevie Nicks, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder and more. Singers will be backed by house band, The Newts, formed by Zachary Bernard (guitar), Parker Clements (keyboards), Michael Gallant (Drums), and Isaac Williams (bass). ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï student vocalists include: Parker Clements, Lindsay Gillis, Leah Jordan, William Millington, Taylor Poirier, Emily Roberts, and Alexandra Smith. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Music Society is also excited to team up with three alumni of the Holland College School of Performing Arts Theatre Performance program: Becca Griffin, Kristena McCormack, and Kaitlyn Post. This year’s chamber orchestra will be presenting arrangements of Disney songs, with vocalists, under the baton of arranger, Travis Boudreau. The orchestra, comprised of ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï music students, alumni, and community members will perform songs from Toy Story, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Little Mermaid and many other beloved classics. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Jazz Band lead by Professor David Shepard will close the night with charts from Bublé, Mangione, Strayhorn, and the Supremes.  

Faculty Recognition Night

Faculty Recognition Night will be held Wednesday, May 4, beginning at 7:00 pm (Reception: with live music, 6:30 pm) at the Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club. This event honours the winners of the Hessian Award for Excellence in Teaching, the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Merit Award for Scholarly Achievement, and the Outstanding Service Award  as well as those FA members who are retiring. Tickets are $50.00 each (with a subsidized price of $25.00 for FA members and their guests), and can be pre-ordered at the Faculty Association Office, SDU Main Building, Room 315, Ext. 0438. Deadline for reserving tickets is 11:00 am, Monday, May 2, 2016.  Faculty Recognition Night is co-sponsored by the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Faculty Association and the Office of the President. ºÚÁϳԹÏ's Annual Math Camp

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences is holding its 13th annual Math Camp scheduled April 29 – May 1, 2016. Supported by the Canadian Mathematical Society and the Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences, ours is one of about 20 math camps being organized across Canada during the spring and summer months. This year there are 24 students participating from Island high schools. The 2016 Math Camp is organized by Dr. Shafiqul Islam and Dr. David Horrocks.

Course in Negotiation & Conflict Management

ºÚÁϳԹÏ's Executive MBA Program is pleased to open up limited seats in their Negotiation & Conflict Management course (Business 785) which is a one-week intensive course that will take place June 20 to 24, 2016.
