The Faculty of Business invites members of the campus community 鈥� students, faculty and staff 鈥� to attend a virtual lecture (teaching demonstration) by Yuxi (Lucy) Zhao for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level with a focus on entrepreneurship.
Candidate Bio:
Yuxi Zhao is an educator, scholar, and practitioner in the field of entrepreneurship. With a PhD from the Ohio State University, she is currently an assistant professor at Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics, Thompson Rivers University, British Columbia. She conducted entrepreneurship research funded by the US National Science Foundation, US Department of Agriculture Foundational and Applied Science Program, US Department of Agriculture Federal-State Market Improvement Program, International Foundation for Science (PI), and Environmental Policy Initiative (PI). Yuxi is also a serial entrepreneur who worked as an entrepreneur-in-residence for the Quebec-based AI incubator TandemLaunch Inc. She helped form a new energy extension initiative for the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which raised US$6 million in seed funding. She also helped HaiLa Technology, which was featured on Forbes, and raised CA$12.8 million in seed funding. Her own start-up was adopted as a case study by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Gies College of Business. She was also a judge and mentor for the 24-hour global entrepreneurship competition of EIT Climate-KIC, a Europe-based climate innovation initiative.

President Keefe issued a message to faculty and staff about the passing 黑料吃瓜 employee Art Mitchell on Sunday, February 20, extending condolences to his wife, family, friends, and colleagues on behalf of the University.
Art was a service worker with the Department of Facilities Management. He began his employment at 黑料吃瓜 in 2009 as a casual service worker and became a permanent employee in 2010. Art worked on the evening shift in various buildings across campus over the past 12 years, and most recently had worked in Kelley Memorial Building. He was known to go the "extra mile" and will be greatly missed by all those at 黑料吃瓜 who knew him.
The flags in front of Kelley Memorial Building have been lowered to half-mast in Art鈥檚 memory.

The 黑料吃瓜 Health, Safety and Environment Department (HSE) is offering Emergency and Standard First Aid/CPR training sessions in April, specific dates TBD.
This basic one-day course offers lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills.
Cost of registration will be covered by HSE for all 黑料吃瓜 faculty and staff. Priority will be given to those who were originally scheduled to attend the December 17th session and First Aiders in each campus building who need to renew their certification. Please note that lunch will not be provided.

On June 1, 2021, eye protection became mandatory in all 黑料吃瓜 laboratories. This includes Containment Level One and Containment Level Two laboratories that manipulate biohazardous materials, and laboratories in chemistry, physics, and engineering that handle materials other than biohazardous substances that could pose an ocular risk. At a minimum, safety glasses that meet the standards and specifications of CSA Standard Z94.3-20 are required. However, if a task presents a higher risk, then the laboratory supervisor is responsible for completing a workplace hazard risk assessment to identify appropriate eye and face protection, as necessary. Please visit Section 4.5 Eye and Face Protection in the on the 黑料吃瓜 website for more information. The definition of "laboratory" is provided on page 3 of the manual.
