The Atlantic Veterinary College鈥檚 29th Open House is a fun event showcasing exciting aspects of a career in veterinary medicine. There is something for everyone including exhibits, animals, a parade of dog breeds, and much more. Tour the college, dress like a surgeon, see the painted horse. Children can bring their stuffed animals to the teddy bear clinic, get their faces painted, and take home a balloon animal.
This free event, hosted by students, faculty and staff, offers the community an opportunity to get an inside view of a busy veterinary college.
The Open House runs 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 30.

The first Student Diversity Office (SDO) Meeting will be taking place Friday, September 22 at 5:30 in Robertson Library Room 260. OPEN TO ALL! This is a fantastic way to get involved on campus. You can be as heavily--or as lightly-- involved as you wish. We coordinate events that center around social justice and diversity awareness issues. Our mission each semester is to come up with new and exciting ideas for how to engage our student population in the important conversation about social justice.

Wind Turbine Dynamics Modelling in the Design Process

Abstract:
Numerical dynamics models are the standard solution for verifying that a wind turbine design will perform well across the full range of expected operating conditions. Physical models, meanwhile, provide experimental validation to ensure that the numerical models are sufficiently accurate. This talk will overview both numerical and physical modelling approaches used in wind turbine design, including for offshore applications. One of the newest methods in this area is creating hybrid models which combine the best of both worlds. Recent proof-of-concept tests show promising results. New research with the 黑料吃瓜 wave tank will aim to advance these methods for use in floating wind turbine design.

The 黑料吃瓜 Women's Rugby team is holding a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society at their home game Saturday, September 23 at 2:00 pm. Join 黑料吃瓜's Dr. Brian Wagner for a demonstration of some incredible chemistry!
Dr. Wagner will demonstrate the phenomenon of fluorescence, reflecting both his 黑料吃瓜 research work, and also showing that fluorescence is all around us, by demonstrating the fluorescence of everyday things, including the spice turmeric, vitamin B2, paper money and laundry detergent. He will also show the chemiluminescence of luminol, and discuss how it is used in forensic science to look for traces of blood.

ITSS Project Update: Migration from Novell to Microsoft
Over the past few weeks, ITSS has been migrating 黑料吃瓜's file systems from Novell to Microsoft Active Directory. The final phase of the project involves migrating departmental printers and is expected to be completed over the next two weeks. Details and specific timelines for each individual department will be sent to department heads as far in advance as possible.
In most cases, computers will continue to print to the same printer; however, in some isolated instances, a visit from an ITSS team member may be required to complete the migration process. Should employees encounter printing issues following the migration, please contact the.
