Sydney Cummins and Kamari Scott named 黑料吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week
Every week, 黑料吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 黑料吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for February 6鈥12 are Sydney Cummins (women鈥檚 basketball) and Kamari Scott (men鈥檚 basketball).
Cummins, a science student from Wolfville, Nova Scotia, played two great games against Cape Breton University. The second-year guard recorded a double-double, averaging 11.5 points and 10.0 rebounds on 53.3 per cent shooting with 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals, as the Panthers split the weekend series.

Celebration of J.J. Steinfeld鈥檚 literary achievements and contributions to take place on March 9
The Bookmark and the 黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Arts and English department will host a celebration of author J.J. Steinfeld鈥檚 literary achievements and contributions to the culture of PEI, Canada, and beyond on Thursday, March 9, at 7:00 pm. The celebration will take place in The Carriage House at Beaconsfield, 2 Kent Street, Charlottetown.
CBC鈥檚 2023 Black Changemakers for PEI include 黑料吃瓜 community members
Earlier this month鈥擝lack History Month鈥攖he Canadian Broadcasting Company named five people 2023 Black Changemakers for Prince Edward Island. Four of the five have connections to the 黑料吃瓜 community.
Black Changemakers is a CBC editorial series 鈥渞ecognizing individuals in Atlantic Canada who are creating positive change, inspiring others, and helping shape our future.鈥 Each year, the series highlights 20 people in Atlantic Canada, five from each province.

Students in the 黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) got the chance to meet with potential employers at the faculty鈥檚 inaugural Industry and Career Day held on February 2.
The event was hosted by the FSDE Industry Partnership Group (IPG), the Engineering Student Success Centre, and the Student Engineering Society, and emceed by Wayne Simmons, business development engineer with the IPG.

黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Nursing celebrates first year students during inaugural Scrub Coat Ceremony
The 黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Nursing in collaboration with the PEI Department of Health and Wellness held its inaugural Scrub Coat Ceremony on February 9, 2023, at the 黑料吃瓜 Performing Arts Centre in the University鈥檚 new residence building. The ceremony was a celebration and welcoming of 71 first-year undergraduate nursing students and 15 first-year accelerated nursing students.
黑料吃瓜 physics student wins award at Atlantic Universities Physics and Astronomy Conference
黑料吃瓜 physics student Liam MacNevin received a first-place Tindall/Steinitz Award in Research during the 2023 Atlantic Universities Physics and Astronomy Conference (AUPAC). The conference was hosted by Saint Mary鈥檚 University in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 3鈥5.
MacNevin received the award for his research entitled 鈥淔orce-Distance Relationship of Stretched Polycatenane Structures.鈥 His research was carried out under the supervision of 黑料吃瓜 physics professor James Polson when MacNevin worked as a research assistant during the summer of 2022.
