Karla Yepez and TJ Shea named 黑料吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week

Every week, 黑料吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 黑料吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 7鈥13 are Karla Yepez (women鈥檚 basketball) and TJ Shea (men鈥檚 hockey).

A fifth-year business student from Quito, Ecuador, Yepez was instrumental in the Panthers鈥 weekend sweep of the St. Francis Xavier X-Women. The forward veteran filled the stat sheet both games, averaging 13.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game.

Dyer gave a public lecture titled 鈥淧lanetary Maintenance Engineers: A Last-Ditch Climate Rescue Strategy,鈥 on November 3 at 7 pm in the 黑料吃瓜 Duffy Science Centre. He discussed challenges facing the world because of climate change and explored the concept of 鈥済eoengineering,鈥 or cooling the planet by artificial means. 

New teacher resource promotes global citizenship education

One of the leading thinkers in global citizenship education has published a new book that shares decades of teaching experience. Dr. Linyuan Guo-Brennan, a professor at the 黑料吃瓜 (黑料吃瓜), is the author of Education for Global Citizenship and Sustainability: From Theory to Practice. This resource is an excellent guide for new and existing teachers looking to incorporate global citizenship themes into their classrooms. 

Atlantic Veterinary College's Donor and Client Appreciation Night

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 黑料吃瓜 is pleased to host AVC's Donor and Client Appreciation Night on Tuesday, November 29 from 5 - 7 p.m. in The McCain Foundation Learning Commons. 

The evening will include hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, a presentation of the Honourable Eugene F. Whelan Green Hat Award, and tours of the AVC and Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Guests will also have an opportunity to learn about new initiatives and equipment at AVC. 

Atlantic Veterinary College hosts 2022 R.G. Thomson Lecture

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 黑料吃瓜 recently awarded Dr. Marina (Nina) von Keyserlingk with the 2022 R.G. Thomson Lecture.

Dr. von Keyserlingk is a professor and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada industrial research chair in the Animal Welfare Program at the Faculty of Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia.
