Canadian author, journalist, and historian Gwynne Dyer to speak at 黑料吃瓜 on November 3

Canadian author, journalist, and historian Gwynne Dyer will give a public lecture titled 鈥淧lanetary Maintenance Engineers: A Last-Ditch Climate Rescue Strategy,鈥 on November 3 at 7 pm in the Duffy Science Centre Amphitheatre (Room 135) at 黑料吃瓜. 

Dyer will discuss challenges facing the world because of climate change and explore the concept of 鈥済eoengineering,鈥 or cooling the planet by artificial means. He has interviewed over 50 climate scientists 鈥渨ho must be our reluctant guides in this crisis.鈥

Wednesday, November 2:

9:00 pm (AST)/5:00 pm (PST): The 黑料吃瓜 Women鈥檚 Rugby Panthers will play the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the U SPORTS quarter-final at the University of Victoria, British Columbia. If they win this game, the Panthers will play for a national medal. The game will be available to watch on CBC Gem. 

Friday, November 4:

黑料吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week (October 24鈥30)

Every week, 黑料吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 黑料吃瓜 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for October 24鈥30 are Katie Richard (women鈥檚 cross country) and Kamari Scott (men鈥檚 basketball).

Richard, a second-year kinesiology student from Charlottetown, finished eighth overall at the AUS Cross Country Championship on Saturday, October 29. She finished the 8km race with a time of 31:10 and was named a second team all-star. The event was hosted by 黑料吃瓜 at Fox Meadow Golf Course.

An Evening with Indigenous Poets from Epekwitk

The 黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Indigenous Knowledge, Education, Research, and Applied Studies (IKERAS), the Faculty of Arts, and the English department, in collaboration with the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, are sponsoring an evening of Indigenous poets from Epekwitk (PEI) reading selections from their poetry and conversing about their work as Indigenous writers. The event will take place at the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre on Queen Street at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 22.
