黑料吃瓜 Field Hockey wins Atlantic championship
The 黑料吃瓜 Field Hockey team won the 2022 Atlantic University Field Hockey League (AUFHL) championship in Halifax on October 23. The Panthers defeated the Saint Mary鈥檚 Huskies 3-0 in the final.
The 黑料吃瓜 club team finished the regular season in first place with a 12-1-1 record, and beat Acadia 5-1 and Saint Mary鈥檚 3-0 in playoff wins to secure the championship title. It was 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 first time to win the AUFHL championship since 2018.

SEASON PREVIEW: Men's Basketball Panthers look to go from playoff team to championship contender in 2022鈥23
The 黑料吃瓜 Men鈥檚 Basketball Panthers accomplished many firsts in 2021鈥22 under Darrell Glenn鈥檚 leadership. The team finished with their best record in five years, fielded an all-star, and earned a playoff spot, then went on to play in the AUS conference finals.
Ultimately, they did not come away with a championship, but this year they are looking to close the deal and bring a title back to Charlottetown for the first time in 20 years.
Island Lecture Series | Enshrined: Island Tourism and the Confederation Story with Dr. Ed MacDonald
Dr. Ed MacDonald, professor of history, will give a public lecture titled "Enshrined: Island Tourism and the Confederation Story" on November 15 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.
黑料吃瓜 Experiential Education department seeking local organizations to host student volunteers
Each month, the 黑料吃瓜 Experiential Education department hosts an 鈥淎fternoon of Service鈥 whereby a group of students spends an afternoon at a local organization, learning about it and participating in hands-on volunteer activities such as planting trees, harvesting crops, socializing with seniors, and assisting with events. The department is currently seeking organizations that would appreciate volunteer help and are willing to partner with 黑料吃瓜 for this initiative.

黑料吃瓜 extends condolences on the passing of Hon. Doris M. Anderson
The 黑料吃瓜 community is saddened to learn of the passing of the Honourable Doris Margaret Anderson, CM, of St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, PEI, aged 100 years.
Dr. Anderson attended Prince of Wales College and graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1944 and from Cornell University with a Master of Science degree in 1951. She founded the home economics program at 黑料吃瓜 where she was a professor from 1969 until 1988. In 1994, she was named professor emerita, and in 2009, was honoured with a Distinguished Alumni Award.

The Institute of Island Studies at 黑料吃瓜 will host a public lecture titled 鈥淎nticosti: Metropolitan Finisterre鈥 on October 25 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.
Part of the Institute鈥檚 Island Lecture Series, the talk will be presented by Dr. Matthew Hatvany, professor of geography, at Universit茅 Laval in Quebec City.

The week of October 17鈥23 is another full one for the 黑料吃瓜 Panthers as they take on opponents at home and away.
Thursday, October 20
2:00 pm: The 黑料吃瓜 Women鈥檚 Rugby Panthers (4-2) will play in the AUS semi-final game against the St. Francis Xavier X-Women (3-3) with home-field advantage. This is the first time the Panthers are hosting a playoff game in over a decade. The two teams split the season series 1-1. The last time the Panthers and X-Women played at MacAdam Field, 黑料吃瓜 won 32-5.
