Message from the President: New COVID-19 measures at ºÚÁϳԹÏ, effective December 18

The following message was issued to students, faculty, and staff via their @upei.ca emails on December 17, 2021.

Dear Members of the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Community,

With this afternoon’s briefing by the PEI Chief Public Health Office (PEI-CPHO) to introduce further COVID-19 restrictions on PEI, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï will implement the following measures effective 8 am, Saturday, December 18, 2021, until January 8, 2022:

Tournament passes are on sale for the 2022 U SPORTS Women’s Hockey Championship. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panthers are set to host the best women’s hockey teams in the nation at MacLauchlan Arena in Charlottetown, PEI, from March 24 to 27, 2022. Possible COVID-19 exposure site on campus

The following message was distributed to faculty, staff, and students on behalf of the Office of the Vice-President Administration and Finance.

Dear Members of the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Community,

I am writing to advise you that the PEI Chief Public Health Office (PEI CPHO) has informed us today of a possible COVID-19 exposure site on campus, specifically the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre on Sunday, December 5, between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

Study & Stay PEI Holiday Reception

Join the Study & Stay PEI Program International Students, Alumni, Mentors, Faculty, and Staff on Friday, December 10 from 5:00-7:00 pm for an in person Holiday Reception at the Schurman Market Square, Room 248 in Don and Marion Hall, ºÚÁϳԹÏ.

Open to ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Faculty and Staff. Light food and refreshments available.

Vax Pass (paper copy of Government issued vaccination record plus a Government issued ID) are required to attend. Attendees are required to wear a mask when not eating or drinking.

Troy Lajeunesse named Panther Subway Athlete of the Week

Every week, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Athletics and Recreation recognizes a student-athlete for their achievements and dedication to their respective sport. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panther Subway Athlete of the Week for November 29 to December 5 is Troy Lajeunesse.

Lajeunesse is a third-year arts major from Dokis, Ontario, and a forward on the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï men’s hockey team. He earned his second Athlete of the Week nod in as many weeks with another four-point week, scoring a goal in the Panthers’ 4–2 win over Moncton on December 1 and three assists in ºÚÁϳԹÏ’s big 3–1 win over UNB on December 4.

Unique performance of Handel’s Messiah featured at City Cinema

Messiah/Complex, a unique film experience including the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Chamber Singers, will be shown December 12 and 13 at City Cinema in Charlottetown. The 2020 film, which features a truly cross-Canada performance of Handel’s Messiah in Arabic, Dene, English, French, Inuktitut, and Southern Tutchone, is accompanied by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
