Physics student wins best oral presentation award at Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference
Desiree Rehel, a student in the 黑料吃瓜 Department of Physics, won an award for an oral presentation she gave at the recent Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC). The event was hosted by physics students at Western University, but the presentations were all given online. Forty-six students from across Canada gave presentations, and five awards were given, three sponsored by industry and two sponsored by the CUPC.
Documentary Screening- The Skin We're In
February is Black History Month in Canada. To help celebrate, we are excited to announce the launch of our year-long discussion of Canadian author Desmond Cole's book, The Skin We're In
On February 9th at 6 pm come to the Roberson Library for the kick-off event- a showing of the CBC documentary about Cole and his experience as a black Canadian. There will be spots for 22 people (with social distancing) for those who would like to attend in person and a video link will be provided to those who would prefer to join online. Plus there will be popcorn served.

February is Black History Month
Every year in February, Black History Month is celebrated in Canada. Black History Month was created to provide an opportunity to share and learn about peoples of African ancestry, but also recognize there remains work to be done to fully integrate black culture, history, and achievements into the Canadian fabric.
This year, the national theme for Black History Month is 鈥淭he Future is Now,鈥 while the Black Cultural Society of PEI has selected 鈥淐elebrating our Heritage for the Culture.鈥

黑料吃瓜 welcomes Julie Pellissier-Lush as new Mawi鈥檕mi Student Centre coordinator
黑料吃瓜 Student Affairs is excited to announce that Julie Pellissier-Lush has accepted the position of coordinator for the Mawi鈥檕mi Indigenous Student Centre on the 黑料吃瓜 campus. She will be working part-time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
An author, actor, engaged community member, educator of Mi鈥檏maq culture and heritage, and PEI鈥檚 Poet Laureate, Pellissier-Lush brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position, which provides academic and personal advising and support to the Indigenous student community.
黑料吃瓜 names iconic rooftop observatory after professor Earl L. Wonnacott
The 黑料吃瓜 has dedicated the rooftop observatory atop Memorial Hall to the man who was instrumental to its installation more than 40 years ago. The Earl L. Wonnacott Observatory will continue to inspire and teach astronomy to many generations of curious sky-watchers, just as its late namesake did for five decades as teacher and mentor.
