The Institute of Island Studies (IIS) at the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï is working with the PEI Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture to better understand population mobility and retention on Prince Edward Island.

In collaboration with Nature PEI, Dr. Michael van den Heuvel’s laboratory at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï has engaged in the first study using environmental DNA (eDNA) to determine the presence or absence of three rare species of mussel and one group of host fish, river herring, in PEI’s freshwater rivers.

ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women's Rugby has recruited Victoria, BC native Jorja Cook. She will enter the Bachelor of Science program in September 2022.

Dr. Adam Fenech, associate professor in the School of Climate Change and Adaptation at the ºÚÁϳԹÏ, is featured in a recently published book titled Inspiring Canadians: Forty Brilliant Canadians and Their Visions for the Nation.

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panthers will compete at the U SPORTS Women’s Basketball Final 8 in Kingston, March 31–April 3 as they were awarded the wildcard entry. 

The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Women's Hockey team competed in the 2022 U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship, March 24–27, hosted by ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï at MacLauchlan Arena. The Concordia Stingers went on to win the national title beating the Nipissing Lakers in the gold medal game on Sunday, 4-0.

People give back for a variety of reasons – to make a difference, because it feels good, because they feel a sense of duty, to name a few. But 15-year-old Eva MacNeill likes to give back so she can pay it forward.

Every week, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panther Subway Athletes from March 14–20 are Bailey MacIsaac (track and field) and Elijah Miller (men’s basketball).

ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï raised $11,254.62 for the Canadian Cancer Society, surpassing its goal of $10,000, during its annual Relay for Life, which was held virtually this year because of COVID-19.

It’s been a two-year wait, but the Panthers are set to compete on home ice once again as ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï hosts the 2022 U SPORTS Women’s Hockey Championship. In 2020, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï hadn’t even played their first game when the championship was cancelled due to COVID-19.
