Meet Alex Gallant-Wood, Registered Dietitian and 黑料吃瓜 Foods and Nutrition Class of 2016 graduate

What brought you to 黑料吃瓜? Why did you choose to study here?

I've always loved PEI! I visited every summer and during many holidays because I have lots of extended family here. I'm originally from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia and attended 黑料吃瓜 from 2012 to 2016. 黑料吃瓜's brand-new Health Sciences Building opened in my first year, and I received an admissions scholarship for the Foods and Nutrition program.

ACENET Basics: Job Scheduling with Slurm

This workshop is designed for new HPC users, or for experienced users either transitioning to Slurm or seeking to improve efficiency with the scheduler. The Digital Research Alliance of Canada鈥檚 (Alliance) national systems use a job scheduler called 鈥淪lurm鈥. In this session you will learn how Slurm works and how it allocates jobs, helping you to minimize wait time by framing reasonable requests; ask for only the resources you need, to improve efficiency; increase throughput; run more jobs simultaneously; and troubleshoot and address crashes.

ACENET Basics: Introduction to Shell Scripting workshop

This core session is designed for both new and experienced users. You鈥檒l learn how to use the command line to carry out repetitive tasks, extract information from files quickly, combine commands in powerful ways, and capture a workflow so you can re-use it easily. Save time, reduce errors, and use Linux more effectively. Prerequisite: ACENET Basic Series Introduction to Linux, or previous experience with Linux.

ACENET Basics: Introduction to Linux

This core session is designed to help those with no prior experience working with a terminal interface. Linux is the terminal interface used to enable you to use the ACENET and the Digital Research Alliance of Canada (the Alliance) HPC clusters from your desktop. It's the tool you need to get your data on the clusters, run your programs, and get your data back. In this session, learn how to get started with Linux, how to create and navigate directories for your data, load files, manage your storage, run programs on the computing clusters, and set file permissions.

ACENET Basics: Introduction to High Performance Computing (HPC) with ACENET

This core session is designed to help new researchers get up and running. Researchers across many disciplines use HPC to tackle analyses that would be either inefficient or impossible on a desktop. This session offers a basic description of the infrastructure and support accessible, with entry-level advice about how to begin; an overview of the software packages available for applications, data analysis, and software development, and how to request specific software relevant to your work; and insight into the potential of parallel computing to accelerate your analysis.

ACENET Basics of Computers training session

Most of us have experience using a computer, whether for school, work, or entertainment, but how many of us have actually had an expert teach us how to use it? This talk won't teach you how to troubleshoot everything, but will give you insight to how media, programs and data are encoded and used by computers, so you can make more sense of why computers behave the ways they do, and solve some of your problems with greater efficiency and less frustration.

黑料吃瓜 SEASON PREVIEW: After successful 2021 season, Men鈥檚 Soccer Panthers aim for more than a playoff berth

Last season, no one knew what to expect from 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 men鈥檚 soccer team. They were a young, inexperienced group who defied expectations and battled their way to a playoff spot. A year later, this team is brimming with confidence and looking to do more than just make the playoffs.

鈥淭he goal is to win it all, and I鈥檇 like to go into the playoffs as one of the top two seeds, which means bumping off some of the big boys along the way. And, it鈥檚 about time we did,鈥 said Panthers head coach Lewis Page.
