黑料吃瓜

Kiana Linton-Brown didn鈥檛 always know she wanted to be a basketball player.

Growing up, Linton-Brown was exposed to the game quite a bit because her older brother Shae played, but it was gymnastics and track that consumed her time.

鈥淚 didn鈥檛 start playing basketball until about Grade 5 or 6,鈥� she said. 鈥淢y brother wanted me to run track because he believed I could be great.鈥�

Linton-Brown always looked up to Shae and admired everything he accomplished on the court. His love of the game eventually rubbed off on his sister.

Dozens of 黑料吃瓜 students will gain global skills through the newly launched project.

This work/study abroad opportunity will unlock students鈥� potential through life-changing global skills and experiences. This offering has been made possible with a $500,000 contribution from the Government of Canada鈥檚 Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) program announced in November 2021.

Dr. Jeff Collins, adjunct professor at 黑料吃瓜, gave the keynote address at the Royal Canadian Navy鈥檚 annual Naval Warfare Officers鈥� Symposium at CFB Halifax on March 2. He spoke about the need to align Canada鈥檚 foreign and defence policies, given Russia鈥檚 war in Ukraine, the rise of China, and the relative decline of the United States as a pre-eminent world power.

For most of the last 70 years, he said, Canadian foreign and defence policy has existed in a state of 鈥渃omfortable choices.鈥� 

Dr. Edward Chung, director of Asian Studies and professor of religious studies at 黑料吃瓜, has been busy. Since 2015, he has published five scholarly books鈥攆our monographs and one edited volume, three of which have been published since October 2020.

The 黑料吃瓜 community congratulates Dr. Margaret Magner, sessional instructor at 黑料吃瓜 and CEO of the PEI Business Women鈥檚 Association, on being named one of the by Atlantic Business Magazine.

During the fall of 2020, Dr. Karem Simon, chair of the 黑料吃瓜 Department of Music, initiated a series of interviews with alumni, which was an opportunity for them to share their music and professional journeys. These were presented live to music students during the time slot reserved for Friday afternoon student recitals.

While the pandemic has been an obstacle for its continuation, this series was recently re-imagined as an online platform, which has enabled conversations with our alumni from around the world. Interviews have been recorded with:

The entire 黑料吃瓜 community is saddened to learn of the passing of 黑料吃瓜 Professor Emeritus, Dr. F. Alan Reesor on March 9 in Charlottetown. The flags in front of the Kelley Memorial Building have been lowered to half-mast in his memory. 

Dr. Reesor was a long-time faculty member of the 黑料吃瓜 Music Department, joining the University as musicologist and organ professor in 1971. He began serving as the church organist and choir director at St. Peter鈥檚 Cathedral that same year.

It鈥檚 the most exciting time of year in winter sports, when both 黑料吃瓜 hockey teams prepare for the playoffs. 
 
黑料吃瓜 Women鈥檚 Hockey kick things off Wednesday night when they host the St. Thomas Tommies in a win-or-go-home quarter-final game. Puck drops at 7 pm. The winner will then move on to a best-of-three semi-final. So, let鈥檚 "PACK THE MAC" and help us cheer on the Panthers who look to capture their second AUS championship. Tickets can be purchased at the Bell Aliant Centre box office Wednesday at 6 pm.
