SEASON PREVIEW: 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Cross Country team continues to build on foundation, as sights of podium finish become clearer

黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Cross Country team is looking to do more than just participate at meets. They鈥檙e looking to make some noise and turn some heads along the way.

Not since 2017 has a 黑料吃瓜 team earned a top-three finish at the AUS championship, but the student-athletes believe that this could be the year they rise in the standings and make a push toward the podium.

To do so, they鈥檒l have to trust in their training and everything they learned over the last 18 months.

David Currie Jr. Panther Co-Educational Hockey Awards for Perseverance and Resolve presented to 黑料吃瓜 student-athletes

The 2021鈥22 David Currie Jr. Panther Co-Educational Hockey Awards for Perseverance and Resolve were recently presented to Chiara Esposito, 黑料吃瓜 Women鈥檚 Hockey, and Fil Rydstrom, 黑料吃瓜 Men鈥檚 Hockey. Each student received $5,000 for excellence on and off the ice.

Dear Faculty and Staff, 

It is wonderful to see so many more people on campus for the 2021 Fall Academic Semester. However, the stark reality remains, we are still in the middle of a global pandemic. We were reminded over the weekend of the need to stay vigilant when the PEI Chief Public Health Officer announced an outbreak at a Charlottetown area elementary school.

The Teaching and Learning Centre invites you to Weekly Coffee Chats, informal get-togethers over coffee (or tea) to chat with peers and colleagues. 

Meet new friends or connect with old ones across departments and disciplines. 

These are not technical help-sessions, but we welcome all faculty, librarians, and instructional staff (CNIs, lab instructors, etc.) with questions, comments, or concerns in addition to a warm, friendly conversation.

No RSVP needed, just drop in anytime.

鈥淚t鈥檚 all part of supporting the next generation of workers鈥

Amidst a global pandemic, 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Co-operative Education program had a landmark year with its highest number of students drawn from the widest variety of academic programs securing work term placements this summer. In partnership with primarily local employers, 73 undergraduate students across three faculties were employed in roles benefitting the students鈥 professional development and providing employers with access to high-quality talent. The co-op program had a 100 per cent placement rate for the summer, with every student seeking a work term through the program being hired.

Academic Instructional Skills Program - Panel Discussion on "What makes and effective teacher?"

The Teaching and Learning Centre and the E-Learning Office will be launching the new Academic Instructional Skills Program (AISP) on Thursday, September 16 at 2:30 pm in the Health Sciences Building, Room 104.  Come and join us for a discussion with a diverse panel of accomplished post-secondary educators from 黑料吃瓜 on the topic of 鈥淲hat makes an effective teacher鈥.  

Kinesiology students seeking participants for exercise training program

Students from 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Kinesiology 3430 class are seeking participants to take part in a four-week exercise training program, plus pre- and post-assessment sessions for six weeks total. Students will create personalized exercise training programs for each participant, based on their fitness, skill level, and personal interests.

Atlantic Veterinary College cancels the 2021 AVC Open House

For the second year, the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 黑料吃瓜 has made the decision to cancel AVC Open House.

鈥淥pen House is one of AVC鈥檚 signature events and one that we take great pride in. We know that many people look forward to this event every year, which made this decision even more difficult,鈥 explains Dr. Greg Keefe, dean, Atlantic Veterinary College. 鈥淕iven the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, we decided it would be best to be cautious and look to resume Open House next year.鈥
