Relive the 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 50^th anniversary celebrations, thanks to the Robertson Library! The library has created a website to document its projects and initiatives to celebrate 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 50^th anniversary year in 2019.

Students from 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Faculty of Nursing are joining with nursing and medical students across Atlantic Canada to support health-care providers. This student-led initiative includes students from 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Nursing Society, Memorial University鈥檚 Medical Society, and the Dalhousie University Medical Society.

Student volunteers will be matched with health-care providers who need help with child care, running errands, pet care, and other tasks, to provide support and relief during the increased workload of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Graduates from 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Faculty of Business accounting specialty had a perfect success rate on the most recent round of the Common Final Examination (CFE). The CFE is the final examination to qualify for the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in Canada and is the culmination of a rigorous two-year graduate level program. Each of the 2017 黑料吃瓜 grads who wrote the test passed.

Clayton Smith (BBA 2017) achieved a first for Prince Edward Island, scoring in the top one per cent of all writers in Canada. More than 8,700 candidates wrote the 2019 CFE.

The 黑料吃瓜 Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) has launched a project to produce personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers on Prince Edward Island should a shortage occur because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

This initiative arose from a meeting between Dr. Kathie McNally, Director of Health Services, PEI Department of Health and Wellness; Todd Gillis, Director of Materials Management at Health PEI; and a team of FSDE faculty, and technical and engineering staff.

黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Department of Athletics and Recreation celebrated the 2019鈥�2020 season at the 51st annual 黑料吃瓜 Athletic Awards 鈥淕ala鈥� on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4, recognizing outstanding student-athletes who have excelled in sport, the classroom, and serving the community. Because the student-athletes and coaches couldn鈥檛 gather in person, Panthers around the world were able to follow this year鈥檚 awards on the 黑料吃瓜 Athletics and Recreation鈥檚 Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram social media channels.

Zack Montreuil, a fourth-year BBA student in 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Faculty of Business, was awarded the prestigious Frank H. Sobey Award at a ceremony earlier this year.

The Frank H. Sobey Award is awarded each year to up to eight undergraduate business students attending an Atlantic Canadian university who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in business and dedication to extracurricular, community, and entrepreneurial activities. The scholarship amount has gone up in recent years to $30,000 from $25,000.

黑料吃瓜鈥檚 Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team issued a message to faculty and staff on March 30, 2020 with contact information and links to resources during the COVID-19 crisis. 

Liz Rostant-MacArthur, Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment said, 鈥淲ith many of our colleagues working at home and others holding down the fort on campus providing essential services, we wanted to virtually say 鈥榟ello,鈥� and let them know that we are thinking of them during this difficult time.鈥�
