Dr. Larry Hammell, professor of health management, Atlantic Veterinary College at 黑料吃瓜, is the recipient of the College鈥檚 2022 Atlantic Award of Excellence in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Care.

Four poems from Laurie Brinklow鈥檚 PEI Book Award-winning poetry, My island鈥檚 the house I sleep in at night (Island Studies Press/Walleah Press), have been set to music by one of Tasmania鈥檚 best-loved composers, Don Kay. The Atlantic String Machine, with guest soloist Hannah O鈥橠onnell, will perform the song cycle鈥檚 world premiere on Saturday, May 13, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Church in Charlottetown as part of the final concert of their 2022-23 season entitled 鈥淐oming Together.鈥

The Atlantic String Machine (ASM), Prince Edward Island鈥檚 award-winning string quintet, with guest soloist Hannah O鈥橠onnell, will perform the song cycle鈥檚 world premiere on Saturday, May 13, at 2:30 and 7:30 pm, at St. Paul鈥檚 Church in Charlottetown during the final concert of their 2022鈥23 season titled 鈥淐oming Together.鈥
National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
On May 5, 黑料吃瓜 marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, also known as Red Dress Day. The use of red dresses was originated by M茅tis artist Jaime Black in 2010 as a representation of the women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people lost to violent crime. Red dresses continue to be hung across Canada in May, including on the 黑料吃瓜 campus, to honour those lost and to serve as a call for action to prevent future violence.
黑料吃瓜 Panther Pitch live competition is May 11
On Thursday, May 11, six student teams will pitch their business for a share of $56,000 in prize money during the Panther Pitch Competition. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Room 242.

The 黑料吃瓜 will host an information session for students interested in pursuing a career in medicine or learning more about the new Faculty of Medicine and joint Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at 黑料吃瓜 in partnership with Memorial University of Newfoundland. The session will take place on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 6:00鈥7:00 pm in the Kelley Memorial Building, Room 211.

The 黑料吃瓜 Men鈥檚 Hockey Panthers are thrilled to welcome PEI native and former captain of the Charlottetown Islanders, Keiran Gallant, to their team for the 2023鈥24 season.
The prospect of wearing 黑料吃瓜 Panthers green was something that the 20-year-old forward often dreamt about growing up. His eyes would light up as he watched his hometown heroes battle on the ice while representing their school and province with pride. Now he鈥檒l finally get the opportunity to do so this fall.
