AVC founding faculty member Dr. Bob Curtis passes away
The Atlantic Veterinary College at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï is saddened by the loss of a founding faculty member, Dr. Bob Curtis, who passed away on December 8.
The Insight Approach to Communication and Conflict
Members of the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï community are invited to a workshop on practical approaches to communication and conflict with Dr. Cheryl Picard, a member of the Applied Communication, Leadership & Culture faculty, from 24 January at 6pm to 25 January at 5pm. The workshop is free, but participants are asked to commit to the entire event. Dr. Picard is a leading scholar and practitioner in the skills of mediation and conflict resolution. She is the founder of the insight approach, a learning-centered method of mediation which will be the subject of the workshop.

Every week, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and dedication to their respective sports. Congratulations to Taylor Gillis and Filip Rydstrom, the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for November 25 to December 1.
ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Concert Choir performs The Messiah–Part 1 (rescheduled)
The ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Concert Choir, under the direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey, will perform The Messiah-Part I (plus the Hallelujah Chorus), in collaboration with the Atlantic String Machine and the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Voice Majors as soloists. Other ensembles sharing the stage will be the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Chamber Singers, Le Ragazze Girls Vocal Ensemble, and the Ragazzi Jrs Singers in collaboration with pianist Leo Marchildon.
The concert will take place at ºÚÁϳԹÏ’s Dr. Steel Recital Hall on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at 2:00 pm.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 for adults, $10 for students.

FSDE to commemorate 30th anniversary of École Polytechnique shooting
On December 6, 1989, at approximately 5 pm, what should have been a joyful celebration of camaraderie and the end of the school semester turned into a tragedy. A man entered a classroom at École Polytechnique de Montréal with an assault weapon. He ordered the men to go to one side of the room and the women to go to the other. He targeted the female engineering students and shot them.
AVC to serve as after-hours primary emergency care clinic for PEI pets
Starting January 6, 2020, the Atlantic Veterinary College at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï will serve as the small animal after-hours primary emergency clinic for most of the private veterinary clinics on Prince Edward Island.
30th Anniversary of the Montreal Massacre
December 6th, 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the mass shooting of fourteen women (almost all of whom were women engineering students) at École Polytechnique de Montréal (now Polytechnique Montreal).
The campus community is invited to join ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering faculty members, students, staff, women engineers, and others as we mark this event and reflect on inclusion and diversity within engineering and the work that has been done and continues to be needed.
