Island Lecture Series December Lecture: Visiting scholar Dr. Dacia Leslie

The Island Lecture Series鈥 presentation for December features visiting scholar Dr. Dacia Leslie, speaking about the prison system in her home country of Jamaica. Her talk, 鈥淒on鈥檛 Discard the Utilitarian Aims: Revisiting the UK Prison Offer,鈥 will be held on Tuesday, December 10, at 7 pm, in the Faculty Lounge of 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 SDU Main Building. All are welcome.

Festive Coffee and Cookie Break for Students

All 黑料吃瓜 students are invited to enjoy a Festive Coffee and Cookie Break on Thursday, December 5, presented by the Office of the President. Drop by the concourse in the W. A. Murphy Student Centre between 12:30 and 2:00 pm where the team from the Office of the President will serve up cookies, coffee, and hot chocolate and 黑料吃瓜 music students will be carolling!  Join in this great stress reliever and spirit booster!

AVC presents 2019 Green Hat Award to PEI鈥檚 Apple Valley Farm

The Atlantic Veterinary College at 黑料吃瓜 presented the 2019 Hon. Eugene F. Whelan Green Hat Award, to Apple Valley Farm, a swine production facility in Pisquid, PEI, on November 14, 2019.

Dr. Dan Hurnik, professor of swine health management at AVC, and Dr. Shawn McKenna, associate professor of ruminant health management and service chief of AVC Farm Service, nominated the farm for the award. Dr. Hurnik read the citation at the ceremony.

Winding down and starting up: Two four-year projects in Kenya

鈥淲e sure have come a long way鈥rom being overwhelmed by the bustle and chaos of a Kenyan market day, to knowing our main vendors, bartering prices, and greeting familiar happy faces from the dairy farms along the way. And we really enjoyed working with the Kenyan dairy farmers to make their cows healthy, productive, and happy.鈥

Join us this Saturday for a double header as 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 women鈥檚 and men鈥檚 hockey teams play their last home games before the December break.

Saturday鈥檚 action begins at 4 pm in MacLauchlan Arena as 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 women鈥檚 hockey hosts St. Francis Xavier University. The Panthers have had an outstanding start to the season with just two losses, putting them in second place in the AUS.

黑料吃瓜 Concert Choir performs The Messiah, November 30

The 黑料吃瓜 Concert Choir, under the direction of Sung Ha Shin-Bouey, will perform George Frideric Handel鈥檚 The Messiah-Part I (plus the Hallelujah Chorus) in collaboration with the Atlantic String Machine and 黑料吃瓜 voice majors as soloists. Other ensembles sharing the stage will be the 黑料吃瓜 Chamber Singers, Le Ragazze Girls Vocal Ensemble, and the Ragazzi Jrs Singers in collaboration with pianist Leo Marchildon.

Campus Traffic Restrictions on December 1 for Charlottetown Christmas Parade

The Charlottetown Christmas Parade will take place on Sunday, December 1, 2019, beginning on University Avenue at Enman Crescent at 5:00 pm. As a result, there will be traffic restrictions at the 黑料吃瓜 University Avenue entrance, as the staging of the parade walking groups will take place on campus in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre parking lot.
